It's not local, but it's so great, I have to say so: It isn't often that militaries pull off something truly brilliant. But the Colmbian military did. On Wednesday, the Colombian military, having stealthily infiltrated the leadership of the terrorist organization FARC, executed a flawless ruse, rescuing former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, three American contractors and 11 others--all of whom have been held captive by FARC for six years. The Colombian soldiers dressed in FARC uniforms, which are emblazoned with the image of Che Guevara, and claimed that the prisoners needed to be transferred at once to another FARC camp. The real FARC terrorists handed over the hostages, who were loaded onto helicopters. It was only then that the Colombian soldiers discarded their fake FARC Che Guevara shirts and announced that they were not FARC and that the hostages were free. Betancourt later told reporters that the helicopter almost crashed because all of the former hostages started jumping up and down and screaming for joy.  Congratulations, Colombia! All I can say is, you guys really have cajones. (By the way, weren't you trained by Americans? Well then, maybe we can take a little credit.)
